First Attempt at etching

My first attempt at etching, each student in the art class was given small piece of a large picture and were asked to etch it. After we did so, we put ink on top of the image and it was then placed onto the printing press. If you turn your head you can see that is it a collar with a persons neck.

Artists Statement

For the past few weeks in art we have been focusing on etching and creating our etchings useing one of our collages from the last unit of work, plastic sheet of paper, etching needle, ink, mixed media paper and a printing press. The techniques i used in this piece of assesment were crosshatching and drawing lines close together to make dark areas of the image. If i were to describe my work to someone i would tell them all the things you need to know to create an etching and all the important techniques, i would also tell them where i used the techniques in the piece. Etching has been a good art technique to use and gave me a more deeper knowledge of balance in images etc. I have enjoyed this unit of work and i look foward to what we will be doing next term.

My Excursion and experience at GoMa Art Galley

The work in the GoMA Art gallery had some amazing and fascinating paintings and sculptures; I like how they had 3D Pictures and large models of creative things to do with everyday items. My favourite piece in the art gallery was the Van that had fantastic features on the inside and the outside.

The most amazing artwork that I found at the gallery was the tree branch made out of lights and shadowing, it looked very realistic and was very creative.

My most favourite interactive piece would have to be the buddas that you could put stickers onto, and I also thought that the room with many strings that you could walk through was a lot of fun!

The GoMA art gallery was a really enjoyable experience and it was the first time I had ever been to a gallery, I highly recommend GoMA and would love to go back again!
